Social media platform TikTok is expanding to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with a fresh batch of trending music videos that are set to become its first creator-led NFT collection.

Named TikTok Top Moments, the tokens will be made available on Ethereum (ETH), and powered by Immutable X, the first layer-2 scaling solution for NFTs on the blockchain, the company said.

TikTok Top Moments “comprises a selection of six culturally significant TikTok videos from some of our most beloved creators,” the platform said. “Each one-of-one NFT celebrates the impact these creators … have made across entertainment, culture, and the TikTok community.”

The creators, “renowned for their creative cultural impact,” are partnering with prominent NFT creators, such as COIN ARTIST, x0r, RTFKT, Grimes, on limited edition NFTs.

Proceeds are to largely go directly to the involved creators and artists, according to the statement.

These are the six videos that should be put up for sale as NFTs on October 6:

Lil Nas X x Rudy_Willingham

The drop celebrates US rapper Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name)  single. The track made waves owing to its queer themes, skyrocketing the song, described by Billboard magazine as a “flamenco-like track with a subtle trap beat,” to the number one position on the publication’s Hot 100 chart.

“Rudy Willingham’s tribute TikTok to Lil Nas X is a hypnotic kaleidoscope of color and sound that caught the attention of millions, including Lil Nas X himself. Each of the 81 frames features Willingham’s signature cutouts, photographed against a background that reflects a different part of LNX’s genius,” TikTok said.

CurtisRoach x COIN ARTIST

Rapper Curtis Roach defined a unique period of quarantine with a memorable 15-second TikTok video, and he is partnering with NFT creator COIN ARTIST on her first music-inspired drop.

FNMeka x RTFKT

Robot rapper FNMeka has amassed an audience of 10m followers on TikTok with videos such as ‘can you guess what I’m cooking’. For this NFT, the robot is collaborating with virtual shoe and collectible creator RTFKT.

Gary Vaynerchuk x JessssTheMess x x0r

TikTok star Jess Marciante, famous for her take on videos that are “living-rent free in her head,” Gary Vaynerchuk, and x0r are collaborating on an NFT that celebrates the most stitched video on Tiktok.

BellaPoarch x Grimes

Filipino-American social media personality and singer Bella Poarch and Canadian artist Grimes are collaborating on a drop in which “IRL friends help each other break into the next big space.”

Brittany_Broski x Grimes

Brittany Broski, also known as “Kombucha girl,” is partnering with Grimes, who broke expectations with a USD 6m NFT series, on a drop the proceeds of which are to go to charity.
